About Us

Mid Wales Music Trust has been supporting and producing music projects across mid Wales and, especially, Powys, since it was established in 2009 (our original name was  the Cambrian Music Trust).

Originally our focus was supporting the work of the Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra, including chamber music and orchestral performances together with a schools programme. Between 2012 and 2021 the MWMT programme was focused around its schools programme and more information about this can be found here.

Since 2021 the Trustees have re-focused as a grant-making Trust, making small grants (typically up to £2,000) to support musical activities across Powys including youth music charities, orchestras, ensembles and festivals. A total of £70,780 was granted between 2021 and 2025.

We have a particular interest in supporting high quality music projects that:

  • increase access to music education and participatory projects for young people;
  • bring people together and strengthen communities;
  • bring outstanding musicians and performances to audiences and communities across rural Powys.

To find out more about applying to MWMT please see How to apply.

MWMT’s grant-making is made possible through donations from individuals and we would love to hear from you if you might be interested in supporting our work. Please get in touch with MWMT Administrator Catrin Slater, catrin@mwmt.org.uk
